1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using PlaceStory you accept these Terms. Please read them carefully.

2. The service

PlaceStory (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a community application in which users share and discover local reports, such as incidents, events, traffic, and neighborhood updates, within their area. Use of the service is free.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • One account per person. You may not impersonate another person or an organization with which you are not affiliated.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
  • If you suspect unauthorized use, email us immediately at ouailelfida@hotmail.com.

4. User-generated content

  • You retain copyright and ownership in the content you post.
  • By posting content you grant PlaceStory a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, store, and distribute that content within the service.
  • You warrant that your content does not infringe third-party rights and complies with applicable law.

5. Community guidelines

You may not post content that:

  • Harasses, threatens, insults, or discriminates against others
  • Reveals private information about others without consent (doxxing)
  • Constitutes spam, advertising, or phishing
  • Falsely reports incidents or emergencies
  • Depicts or promotes illegal activity, drugs, weapons trade, or sexually explicit material
  • Infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
  • Glorifies violence, supports terrorism, or encourages self-harm

6. Moderation

  • We may remove content, hide posts, or suspend accounts when rules are broken.
  • Three independent reports on a single post trigger automatic hiding pending manual review.
  • You can report content via the report button on any post or comment.
  • You can block other users from their profile. You will no longer see their content.
  • For serious violations we may notify competent authorities.

7. Disclaimer

PlaceStory is provided “as is”, without warranties.

  • We make no representation about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of user-submitted reports.
  • Information in the app is community-sourced and not verified. Do not rely on it for safety-critical decisions.
  • In an emergency, always call 112 (or your local emergency number). Do not use PlaceStory as an emergency channel.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, PlaceStory’s liability is limited to direct damages with a cap of €500 per event. We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or damages resulting from content posted by other users.

9. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete account.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, with prior notice. Urgent cases requiring immediate action are an exception.
  • Upon termination your profile and interactions are deleted; posts you created remain visible anonymously (see Privacy Policy).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be brought before the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless mandatory law designates a different court.
